Valve before removal

In 1987, RENCOR Controls supplied one of the largest names in paper and packaging products (a pulp & paper plant) a 6" Samson model 3251 globe valve for a power boiler feedwater application.  Boiler feedwater is a critical service. Valve failure can potentially shut down the boiler in the paper mills' power generation facility.

After the initial sale, and since 1987, RENCOR has provided onsite, yearly routine maintenance on the valve. The valve continued in service, without problem, through September 2013.

Disassembly

In late September 2013, there was an unexpected valve failure due to human error. Facing a potential shutdown of the power generating facility, the customer called RENCOR for help.

RENCOR went into action and ordered a NEW 6" Samson valve body assembly (out of Samson's Texas warehouse). Three days later it showed up at the customer location, ready for installation.

RENCOR service technicians showed up onsite and began removing and disassembling the old valve.

RENCOR technicians began work at 6:30 a.m.  By 8:15 a.m. disassembly was complete,  and customers' pipe-fitters began cutting the valve from the pipeline.  RENCOR's valve service technicians checked and prepped the valves internals while the pipe-fitters welded the new valve body in place.

At 4 p.m. that afternoon, RENCOR technicians began work to reassemble the valve and re-assembly and calibration of new valve was complete by 7:30 p.m. that evening.



In just four days time, RENCOR located, shipped, uninstalled, reinstalled, calibrated and recommissioned a new 6" control valve.
